The President of the National Laboratory for Energy and Geology (LNEG), Teresa Ponce de Leão, took part in the first event of the APE Energy Talks series, organized by the World Energy Council (WEC) and the Portuguese Energy Association (APE), which was held on 18 March 2026 at the GALP Auditorium in Alcântara, Lisbon.
With the theme ‘Biomethane: an ally of decarbonisation’, the session aimed to raise awareness of the importance of biomethane in the energy transition, as well as to actively contribute to the structuring of the biomethane market in Portugal. The goal was to reinforce its position as a strategic decarbonisation vector, emphasise its role as a transition solution for current natural gas consumers, and encourage discussion among APE members and other market stakeholders.
Teresa Ponce de Leão participated in a roundtable discussion alongside Nuno Moreira (CIP), Jaime Braga (APPB), Hugo Pereira (Mota-Engil Ambiente e Energia), and Cristiano Amaro (Capwatt), moderated by Joana Appleton (FLOENE).
